As a Christian, I only know of two forms of Baptism; Baptism with water and Baptism with the Holy Spirit. But did you know that there’s a new form of Baptism?
A church in South Africa has began baptizing its members with their favorite alcoholic drink, be it Star, Club Beer or Guinness, instead of the normal water.
The founder of the church, Bishop Tsietsi Makitis, 52, is the mastermind behind the idea – and he added his members have his blessing to also drink alcohol during church services.
According to sources, this new form of baptism (Beer Baptism) has already increased the church’s membership to over 500 members just under two months.
The Bishop indicated his motivation comes from the Bible, narrating how Jesus Christ turn water into wine.
He added “People who drink and get baptized by beer are happy and peaceful. This means they are living in the shadow of God.
The church accommodates people who are not welcome at other churches.
Its name ‘Gabola’ is the Tswana word for drinking. There is only one branch at the moment but the Bishop is looking forward to expanding it further.”
