Public Senior High School To Enjoy Free SHS Program From Today

In today’s Headline Stories column, we’re looking at the free Senior High School program as it begins today, 11th September, 2017. The Government of Ghana has set in motion the free Senior High School policy which is to be enjoyed by all public Senior High School across the country.

There are still a lot of challenges being encountered although the policy has been set in motion.The Computerized School Selection Placement System meant to place students into various Senior High School have encountered lot of challenges causing frustration to some BECE graduates and their parents.

According to starrfmonline, the cost of the free SHS policy is 3.6 billion Ghana each year. The policy was major campaign promise by President of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo back in 2012 and 2016.

Over 400,000 students are expected to enjoy the benefits of the free Senior High School Program. The program will cater for the tuition and other fees of SHS students.

The policy will officially be launched by His Excellency The President, Nana Akuffo-Addo, tomorrow – 12th September 2017 at West African Senior High School at Adenta.
