In today’s Football column, we are looking at the Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan aka Baby Jet. Information we’re receiving indicates the Ghana captain is likely to retire soon from the national team.
According to Ghanasoccernet, Asamoah Gyan will hang-up his boots after the African Cup of Nations in 2019 at Cameroon.
He is the longest serving Black Stars player – serving the national team for the last fourteen years, and he is the highest goal scorer for the national team with 50 goals.
He is Ghana’s top scorer on the continent of Africa and also Africa’s all-time top scorer at the World Cup.
The impressive form Asamoah Gyan had back in the days looked to have dwindled during Ghana’s World Cup Qualifier match with Congo in Kumasi. Gyan’s performance was nothing to write home about.
His camp has however distanced themselves with reports claiming that he will retire soon.
According to sources, if the Black Stars can win the AFCON 2019 trophy in Cameroon, Asamoah Gyan is likely to hang up his boots.
